Turtles.

Okay, so here's my very first blog post. Amidst everyone telling me to start a blog simply because I am a lazy journalism student, involved in no journalism or creative writing at all, I decided tonight to just do it. (no copyright infringement intended Nike™)

And as a sort of joke, this entire time, I would say that my dream was not to be chasing the greatest news stories of all time, but to be sitting in Buzzfeed, writing articles about the top 20 cutest turtles I'd seen on the internet. And you know what, that's what I was going to write this about until I realised that they've already done it! This whole joke about the turtle article actually being something Buzzfeed would do, is an actual reality.

I'm not mad at Buzzfeed, to be honest I'm sure I'm not the first person who has thought of it, but goddamn. The one thing.

Anyway I'm going to do my top twenty cutest turtles anyway. So here you go.

1. That nosy friend you catch listening in on you, half way through a mad rant about someone.

2. The cuddle buddy !!!!

3. Grandads right before they tell you their favourite story.

4. Hugs from that special someone <3

Okay so we've hit our top ten mark so here's a few 'Did you know?' bits from the world of a turtle. 

• Their shells are an evolutionary modification of the ribcage and is part of their vertebrae 
• They can't just take off their shell and crawl out. 
• The oldest surviving species of sea turtles, date back to 55 million years ago, according to Turtles of the World. 

• They have special glands that remove the salt from the water they drink 
• Sea turtles, like salmon, will return to the same nesting grounds where they were born to hatch their eggs.
• Green sea turtles can hold their breath for hours, because they are cold blooded the temperature of the water affects how long they can hold it for. The colder the water the longer they can hold their breath.  

So there you go, I bet you Buzzfeed didnt give you all that extra info. Back to the countdown!
